Over 30 cyclists made the nearly five-mile round trip, delivering books on bicycles from the Commodore Yacht Club to Gower Elementary School. Throngs of screaming students awaited the riders as they rolled up the driveway with books literally in tow.
We saw some pretty big smiles spending time with Book'em at the Metro Nashville Police Department's G.R.E.A.T (Gang Resistance Education And Training) summer camp at Creswell Middle Prep School Of The Arts in the Bordeaux community of Nashville.
What a wonderful feeling it was to pedal into the parking lot of Glengarry Elementary School to the cheers and high fives from the students, teachers and administrators during Sept. 16's Ride for Reading bicycle book delivery. We are truly honored to donate books to this organization and grateful to take part in the awesome rides.
Mostly Tomatos again sponsored and partnered with the United Way of Greater Atlanta in conjunction with the Early Literacy Celebration by donating 1,500 Pre-K books, which put two-three brand new books in the hands of 450 children to increase their learning at home. Mostly Tomatos also provided 20-25 new books to the 20 Pre-K classes to help them increase enrichment in their classrooms.
At the footsteps of the historic DeKalb County Courthouse is where Mostly Tomatos spent their 2016 Labor Day weekend. We were there to participate in the ninth annual AJC Decatur Book Festival in Decatur, Ga. It was awesome to feel much energy to promote reading and literacy.
Labor Day weekend means one thing around the Mostly Tomatos household – it's time to visit Hotlanta for the Decatur Book Festival. We will be in historic Decatur, Ga., for the largest independent book festival in the country and one of the five largest overall. Mostly Tomatos took part May 14-15 in the first Fanboy Expo held in Nashville as one of the vendors (we will take part in the Fanboy Expo in Knoxville June 24-26 as well). There was no shortage of costumes from those attending throughout the weekend in Nashville, making for plenty of good photo ops. Plus, we were able to get hundreds of free, comic-themed books into children's hands over the weekend.
